Following their hometown release show for the album over the weekend, Chico, California-based doom/sludge metal quartet AMAROK kicks off their extensive North American tour with their allies in Mizmor today. AMAROK will meet up with Mizmor, already several days into their tour, tonight in Los Angeles, for three weeks of shows, the tour ending July 31st in Oakland.
The band writes, “The response to the album has been amazing. We’re so excited to perform with our friends Mizmor and share this deeply emotional music with you all. This music means so much to us, but it’s even more powerful when a song means something to you: the listener, and it becomes a part of your story. We hope to see you out there”

AMAROK is bassist/vocalist Brandon Squyres, guitarist/vocalist Kenny Ruggles–Alaniz, guitarist Nathan Collins, and drummer Colby Byrn, who combine the sustained drones and driving rhythms of doom/funeral doom metal with the intricate melodic passages, layered guitar harmonies, and blasting percussion of black metal. The band takes their name from the giant wolf cryptid of Inuit mythology; a creature capable of ripping a person’s soul from their body, symbolizing their powerful wall-of-sound aesthetic, and signaling the band’s connection to the primal forces of nature.
AMAROK is touring in support of their crushing second LP, Resilience, which was just released at the end of June. Resilience was recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (High On Fire, Necrot, Vastum), mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Sunn O))), Isis), and completed with cover art hand painted by Adam Burke, and photography by Michelle Camy and the band members. The album features guest vocals on “Charred (X)” by Dave Edwardson (Neurosis) and on “Penance (XII)” by A.L.N. (Mizmor), and cello on “Ascension (XI)” played by Jaed and recorded by Chris Keene at Cutters Cathedral.
