Texas metal quartet GORE. — vocalist Haley Roughton, guitarist Alex Reyes, bassist Devin Birchfield, and new drummer Wills Weller— have returned with “SEPSIS,” the band’s first new music of 2025. “SEPSIS” follows GORE.’s Spinefarm debut, the A Bud That Never Blooms EP (2024), which saw the band tipped as a “Band You Need To Know” by Revolver and described as “cutting-edge modern metal at its most vulnerable” by NME in their 2025 Essential Emerging Artists list.
The video for “SEPSIS” features a deeply emotional performance by Roughton and can be viewed here.
“This song is about a friend who was in a relationship with someone diagnosed with bipolar disorder (BPD) that went untreated,” Roughton explains. “I attempted to write it from his perspective, after seeing him try to salvage a relationship where he was constantly challenged and abused. I could only imagine how difficult it is knowing that the person you love is ill and staying by their side, even when the relationship feels like torment.”
Regarding the accompanying visual, Roughton shares, “The music video reflects that isolation and what it’s like to be trapped inside your own head and thoughts. Hence why it’s just me and a double the whole time.”
In other GORE. news, the band also proudly welcomes Weller, formerly of Toothgrinder, to its ranks.
GORE. LIVE:
6/11 — The Blackheart — London
6/15 — Download Festival — Donnington
ABOUT GORE.:
Haley Roughton leads the charge in Gore., a band that brings a distinctly feminine perspective to the heavy music scene. Debuted in 2023 with guitarist Alex Reyes and bassist Devin Birchfield, the Texas-based trio quickly made waves with their emotionally raw and unapologetically vulnerable sound. Their signing to Spinefarm solidifies their place in the industry. Gore.’s A Bud That Never Blooms EP serves as a deeply personal exploration of the complexities of femininity. Tracks like “Babylon” confront the painful realities of womanhood, while “Doomsday” reflects on the desensitization to violence and suffering in today’s world. With plans for more music in 2025, Gore. are poised to continue challenging norms and expressing the full spectrum of feminine experience through their powerful sound.
