April 28, 2023 (New York, NY) – Today, Denver based Alt Punk band HRZN (Horizon) are battling against themselves and overcoming mental obstacles in their brand new single, “Wonderland”. The track was created post panic attack as a way of grounding, with the hopes that listeners could identify with the song to feel less alone when dealing with their mental health struggles.

Having been compared to “Paramore, but harder”, the group’s name nods to a layer of positivity, showing that there will always be something brighter on the horizon. The band, who all have their individual battles with mental health (or as they like to call it, they’re neurospicy), aim to shatter the stigma and open healthy dialogues around mental health.

Vocalist Morgan Elizabeth shares that “’A lot of our songs are to help cope with mental health. This song in particular is about feeling like you’re fighting a battle with yourself, taking yourself to a place that doesn’t much make sense, which is where the Alice in Wonderland nods in the lyrics apply to. I want people to be able to feel like they can identify with themes of the song, maybe it can help them realize that other people might feel like they do.

The theatrical, atmospheric alt-pop track filled with powerful guitar riffs and a catchy hook is accompanied by a music video featuring the band dressed up as medieval characters inside a castle in the snow. The video follows the group and an Alice In Wonderland-like main character fighting a battle against themselves while attempting to find their way out of the castle. The metaphor of getting lost inside your mind comes to life before finally freeing themselves of the mental shackles.

Fronted by a non-binary femme, the band aims to represent the underrepresented and foster a community of acceptance. As a group of under-represented ‘misfits’, HRZN hopes to be a catalyst in leveling the playing field of aspiring musicians, to champion a more diverse, inclusive industry within their genre.

HRZN will embark on their debut headlining tour with a run of Southwest and West Coast dates this spring, kicking off in Colorado Springs and continuing to Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas before wrapping in Salt Lake City. See below for a complete list of dates.

About HRZN

Formed just before the world took a turn in 2020, co-founders Morgan Elizabeth and Julian Argabrite formed the alternative-punk band HRZN to connect with others during a period that seemed impossible. The Denver based duo was joined by members Craig Pappas, Brandon Lee and Patrick Pinawin with the goal of making modern emo music that’s relatable, connecting and enjoyable no matter who you are. The tight knit group of goofs touch upon some hefty topics in their repertoire, while opening discussions around mental health, representing the underrepresented and fostering a community of acceptance. The band’s name nods to a layer of positivity, a message they are looking to spread, showing that there will always be something brighter on the horizon.
