Decibel Magazine is currently streaming Black Sabbath’s “Heaven And Hell” as recreated byLos Angeles-based atmospheric doomsayers, QAALM. The cover appears as a bonus track on the physical editions of the band’s First Light Of The Last Dawn EP, released in June on Hypaethral Records.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Henry Derek Elis, “This is undoubtedly one of the finest Dio Sabbath moments and a fan favorite. We initially decided to do this one for fun as a bonus track of sorts. We took a more live approach to this one. It’s not perfect and it’s fairly raw overall but has some great moments. We hope that folks enjoy it.”
Adds Decibel, “The QAALM touch on the cover kicks into overdrive in the last two or three minutes, the band letting the black metal influences seep into their performance. The end result is energetic and authentic, instead of standing as a paint-by-numbers cover.”

The follow-up to the band’s critically lauded Resilience & Despair debut, First Light Of The Last Dawn ushers in a new era of QAALM, introducing influence from black metal and progressive rock and ultimately pushing their new material beyond the boundaries set by their earlier work.
