Stygian Unveil “Spirit in the Mist” Single, “Dreadlands” Debut Album Out in July

Italian blackened metal punks STYGIAN have unveiled their second single, “Spirit in the Mist”, a taste of what’s to come on their debut album “Dreadlands”, out July 4th, 2025 via Time To Kill Records.

Picking up where the first single “Death Rite” left off, “Spirit in the Mist” delivers a haunting blend of crust-laden fury and blackened atmospheres, packed with the raw urgency and melodic undercurrents that define the band’s sound. From Ravenna’s underground scene, STYGIAN continue to forge their own path, one marked by visceral emotion and unrelenting aggression.

The band commented:

“‘Spirit in the Mist’ tells the story of a torment that never fades.
The narrator — the killer of the figure evoked in the song — is haunted by the presence of the woman’s spirit. Shrouded in mist, she returns without leaving a trace, yet she leaves deep wounds within him.
Torn between denial and remorse, he tries to bury the past, forcing himself not to remember, not to return, not to look. But guilt lives on, and the spirit keeps walking.
No forgiveness. No peace. Only the voice of the wind… and a presence that refuses to be forgotten.
Because in the end, you cannot escape what you’ve done. The real punishment doesn’t come from outside — it comes from your own conscience”.

“Dreadlands” explores the contrast between two spiritual worlds: the harmony-centered pagan traditions and the legacy of Abrahamic religions, which often channel humanity’s most violent instincts. While pagan rites served to express and contain primal forces, maintaining balance between humankind and nature, monotheistic dogmas have frequently justified war and destruction in the name of faith. This work stands as a tribute to life, to the sacred bond between people and the natural world—a bond shattered by centuries of religious conflict.

A powerful fusion of black metal and crust punk, the album is steeped in ritualistic intensity and ferocity, encouraging deep reflection on what has been lost in the struggle between spirituality and imposed doctrine.
