WINGS DENIED has announced a new album – ‘Just the Basics‘ – to be released on September 20th, 2024. the Washington, D.C.-based band has carved out a unique niche in the rock scene, blending metal and alternative influences with inspiration from Deftones, Alice in Chains, and 70s progressive rock.
Formed by international college students, the band’s journey began with their 2013 debut EP ‘Awake’, followed by their first LP ‘Mirrors for a Prince’ in 2014 and the ‘Voyager’ EP in 2016. After extensive touring across the USA and Europe, including a debut at Euroblast Festival in 2019, WINGS DENIED have honed their craft and expanded their fan base. In 2022, their single “Plastic Tears” reached new audiences when featured in the game Fortnite.
WINGS DENIED’s upcoming album ‘Just The Basics’ is set to redefine progressive rock as a groundbreaking project showcasing the band’s versatility with nine tracks spanning nine distinct genres. Produced by industry veteran Joel Hamilton (Highly Suspect, Bonobo), the album represents WINGS DENIED’s most ambitious work to date.

“‘Just the Basics‘ is a representation of our desire to be every kind of band at the same time, unconstrained by genre or expectations. To make music as diverse as we are as people, as sometimes our lives are full of melody, sometimes emotional turmoil, and sometimes full of odd times and key changes. That’s the idea of ‘Just the Basics.’ It’s a little bit of everything, not only some of our simplest music, but also our most complex, and most collaborative record so far.”

From the hard-hitting “Black Legend” to the emotive “Pariah” and the introspective “Saudade,” each single released so far hints at the album’s eclectic nature.
