Decibel Magazine today unveils “Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die,” from Charlestown, Rhode Island-based demented grind/death ghouls, BLIGHT HOUSE. The new track precedes the band’s first record in five years, Blight The Way, ready to be put on the slab in early August through their cohorts at Syrup Moose Records.
Recorded at Great Swamp, the record’s ten tracks see BLIGHT HOUSE’s Frank Lloyd Blight handling all vocals and Frank Owen Gorey handling all instruments and recording duties, with mastering handled by Mark Alan Miller at Sonelab, cover art and logo by Misha Mono, and photography by Doc Darkwood. The duo is also joined by Ron Varod (Sabbath Assembly, Zvi) who provides additional lead guitar on “Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die,” and additional vocals by Glumi UwUhammer on “Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die” and “Acephalophilia III.
With “Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die” crawling forth from the BLIGHT HOUSE cellar, the band reports, “Sometimes, the simple fact of human existence in this world is so absurd, so awful, and so shameful, it feels impossible to process. ‘Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die’ expresses this nihilistic affect while featuring new textural explorations. Thanks to guest collaborators Ron Varod and Glumi UwUhammer, providing proggy breaks and a kawaii chorus, this is our wildest departure from deathgrind to date.”
Writes Decibel with the song’s unveiling, “Raise your hand if you feel attacked by the song title. No one? Just me? It’s about to get weird in the bloody cellar that deathgrind duo BLIGHT HOUSE are based out of… ‘Too Ugly To Live, Too Dumb To Die’ feels like it was given an injection of noise rock and then forced through a nightmarishly-psychedelic filter.”
